Lake Como Engagement Photos: Embracing the Rain in Como
When someone dreams about what an exciting event will look like, it’s difficult when things don’t go exactly as planned.
And most of my couples always express a fear of the weather on the day of their event, whether it’s a destination wedding day or an engagement session.
After all, many of them travel from so far away! It’s their one chance to make sure they create the dream they’ve been envisioning.
That was exactly the case with Taryn and Nick and their Lake Como engagement photos. So I was determined to make sure they still had an amazing time with photos to last a lifetime!
Here’s how I made it happen:
The Couple’s Dream of Lake Como Engagement Photos
This sweet couple reached out to me after they had already been officially engaged. Taryn, who is a style and health influencer, explained she had always dreamed of working with a Lake Como photographer to capture this amazing milestone in their lives.
She had big visions of what she wanted their session to look like. And as a Lake Como native, I knew I could show them the beauty of the location, while also capturing its spirit in their photos!
Embracing the Weather in Como for Engagement Photos in the Rain
Weather always has a mind of its own. When Taryn and Nick stepped outside of their hotel for our session together, it was pouring rain. They thought they were going to have to cancel their photos with me.
But I had other ideas! I know just how incredible the city of Como can be, no matter what the weather is. And I wanted to make sure they could experience it firsthand. Part of what makes any photography session unforgettable is embracing whatever is given to you that day.
After all, it’s less about forcing the dream in your head and more about the two of you getting lost in the moment together. And that’s what happened with this couple!
Taking to the Streets of Como
When they were on board, the three of us took to the streets of Como. With its historic cobblestone streets and centuries-old buildings, it’s such a captivating location for any kind of photograph.
Once we added in the couple’s elevated fashion, we truly created editorial photos that would make even the editor of Vogue jealous.
And because we decided to not let the rain keep us down, we were some of the only people out and about in the city! That made for a session unlike any other for these two.
Taryn even said, when it was all said and done, that touring the streets of Como in the rain was one of their favorite parts about the entire Lake Como engagement photo session!

Even though we had such a wonderful time laughing and enjoying each other’s company in the rain, I knew they had been looking forward to being out on the water of the lake.
Soon after our initial engagement session, we went out one more time so we could take the essential wooden boat photos on the water. I didn’t want them to go back home without having those dreamy moments captured!
We toured Varenna by a classic Italian wooden boat, while I directed the captain on where to stop for the best lighting. And the photos turned out impeccable. Between the fashion choices for the couple, the dramatic lighting, and the epic Lake Como location, their engagement gallery was so chic.
The most breathtaking photographs that any couple will want to hang on their wall are the ones that capture real love, laughter, and emotion, rather than the perfect weather. These two were the perfect example of that!
Although the rain came, we didn’t let it keep us from embracing the beauty of this amazing place in their Lake Como engagement photos.
