Some places are just made for weddings. With impeccable views and modern, beachfront ambience, the Four Seasons in Anguilla is one of these locations. And our bride, Claudia, recognized this gem nearly ten years before she met her fiancé, Sam. Lucky for Claudia, Sam also found something special in the blue tides and soft, white sands of Anguilla. It didn’t take much convincing for Claudia to get Sam on board for a destination wedding. The two took a trip to Anguilla as an engaged couple and as they say… the rest is history.
Here’s how I captured their elegant, modern Anguilla destination wedding on the beach:
While I love all of the Caribbean hot spots, Anguilla has a magical remoteness that takes the island feel to a whole new level. It still has the beautiful landscape that the islands share, but it’s less commercialized and is still less traveled than others. Anguilla has all the things a destination wedding needs, without the extras that often come with the territory. The two said “I do” to inviting close friends and family to a wedding and a vacation, all rolled into one magical weekend.
Claudia’s overall vision for her wedding images come from more of an editorial perspective, aligning with couture photos she’s seen in Vogue and other fashion focused pages, rather than more traditional wedding photography. Capturing movement, style, and mood through photos is where our interests really merged. This is where we really meshed as wedding photographer and client.
Along with the perfect scenery provided by Mother Nature, Claudia and Sam’s timelessly classic style with a hint of modern pop culture was carried throughout all of the events, from the welcome party to the actual wedding. Claudia chose simple flowers in baby’s breath and other white blooms, making Anguilla the main focus next to the guests. The flowers were meant to be an accent, not the main focus. The night sky of Anguilla was another essential element, further illuminated with a light tunnel designed by Claudia. For the welcome party, Claudia chose a more casual palette with nudes, then a clean, white palette for the wedding day events.
Claudia’s eye for simple, yet structured fashion designs married beautifully with the bright pops of color offered from the natural landscape. Claudia searched high and low for the perfect dress, trying on anything… and everything. She went way out of her comfort zone in hopes of finding “the one,” but nothing felt quite right.
Eventually, Claudia came to the conclusion that she really loved the way she felt in simple designs, and revisited a few options she tried on early in the process. Dress number two, a Vera Wang gown with eye-catching simplicity, ended up being Claudia’s number one! Claudia pulled out all the stops for her veil, designing her own. We always appreciate a bride that sees her own vision and goes for it! Claudia was inspired by Kim Kardashian’s floor length blusher, made by Givenchy. It added an extra layer of luxe detail, as if Claudia needed any more. But really, can you really go too far on your wedding day? We think not!
Sam’s style was also a dominant piece of the style puzzle for both the big day, opting for a James Bond-ish look, featuring a Tom Ford jacket and an all white look.
Claudia and Sam obviously styled their wedding outfits to perfection, but they didn’t neglect their welcome party ensembles. For the Thursday night, day-before-the-wedding event, Claudia and Sam went with outfits that contrasted their wedding day attire, so guests never got bored with the fashion stories here! Claudia’s welcome party dress was from Marchesa, while Sam donned a custom made suit from Italy, inspired by one that Jay Z wore previously.
Between the stunning sands of Anguilla and the impeccable style curated by Sam and Claudia, the timeless images we captured will no doubt serve as wedding inspiration for years to come. They were able to blend the essence of a beach wedding with the classic elements from a chic, modern event, creating a unique wedding experience for themselves, as well as their guests.
After the wedding ceremony, all of the guests made their way down to the white sandy beach of Anguilla for the reception. Everyone had a seat reserved at a long, banquet-style table with the romantic light tunnel set up overhead. It was truly such a magical sight!
The bride and groom opted for a dance floor to be set up directly on the beach, which was perfect for their Anguilla destination wedding. They shared their first dance, and then welcomed their guests onto the dance floor.
The pair shared a beautiful cake cutting of a modern, elegant, square-shaped wedding cake. Afterwards, they continued celebrating with their guests on the dance floor to the sounds of dance music accompanied by the waves hitting the sand!
I love when my couples choose to extend their wedding celebration into the weekend! It makes for so many more incredible moments captured on camera. The following morning, I headed out with the pair to photograph them with one of the most quintessential activities in Anguilla — horseback riding on the beach!
This romantic, modern wedding with a flair for elegance was such a one-of-a-kind take on an Anguilla destination wedding. I’m so thankful I was there to play a small part in making it unforgettable!
