For all my brides out there that are a little less traditional and would rather march to the beat of their own drum? Keep reading!
This Villa Pizzo, Lake Como wedding shows just how incredible a wedding can be when couples throw traditional elements to the wind.
From pulling inspiration from Ella’s favorite flower to creating a custom experience for their guests to pay homage to her career as a renowned food blogger, Ella and Nate’s wedding was truly one-of-a-kind!
Booking one Italian wedding villa is exciting when it comes to a destination wedding. But booking two? Even better!
That’s what our bride and groom did for this gorgeous Lake Como wedding.
Villa Sola Cabiati served as the getting-ready location at the start of the day. When it was time for the ceremony, the couple made their way to Villa Pizzo for the remainder of the celebration.
Along with getting ready at Villa Sola Cabiati, the couple opted to have their first look there, too.
It’s always so difficult to choose my favorite parts of any couple’s wedding day, but for this one? The first look might be it.
The moment they first saw each other, I was so grateful to be there with my camera. Genuine love filled the room, and I captured it all through my signature style. These works of artful photography will be cherished forever!
After an eventful first look, the couple stepped into a classic Lake Como wooden boat. The bride donned her hip, cool shades, and all three of us took off flying across the lake to Villa Pizzo for the ceremony.
While I always love getting to take photos of my couples on the traditional boats, I think this might be my new favorite way to do so! Having these two in their wedding day attire made for such incredible photographs.
I truly believe that couples who dare to fully embrace themselves on their wedding day end up with the greatest photographs. When a couple tosses traditions to the side and makes room for elements that feel special to them, the genuine emotions of the couple and their guests are tangible in the photos.
From the color palette and flowers to the menu at the reception, this bride and groom’s personal styles were the center of attention throughout the entire day.
So many core elements were inspired by poppies, the bride’s favorite flower, including the overall aesthetic. It was vibrant, colorful, and a little bit wild in the best possible way.
All of those elements created such an energetic photo gallery of their Villa Pizzo wedding!
The couple and their wedding planner decided to pull inspiration from the poppies in the color story, which set the tone as guests arrived. Rather than opting for traditional, muted color tones, they went for bright, cheerful ones. Even the long-stemmed candles for the reception were selected in the appropriate color tones. Pops of orange and purple mixed with white added gorgeous visual interest to every photo.
For a bride that loves poppies, they had to be included in the bridal bouquet. She carried a small selection of different wildflowers in the same vibrant colors as the overall color palette.
This bride went after my own heart when she stepped out in her Oscar de la Renta wedding gown. The most quintessential part of their wedding in Villa Pizzo, Lake Como was inspired by the bride’s favorite flowers, too!
The gown was a gorgeous ball gown style with delicate, subtle poppies stitched on the skirt. But my favorite part was the neckline. It was a lovely sweetheart neckline, reminiscent of poppy petals and so worthy of such an epic location!
In a traditional outdoor wedding, an arch is used at the ceremony site. Yet, this couple continued to embrace what was right for them, instead.
Rather than using an arch, which would have obscured the breathtaking view of Lake Como, they chose a ground-covering altar made up of a stunning wildflower selection.
After such a long journey for the couple and their guests to arrive at the Lake Como wedding villas, the last thing anyone wanted was to be inside for the entire reception.
Instead, long banquet-style reception tables were set up under a clear-topped tent on the terrace of Villa Pizzo. It provided a spectacular view of the sparkling waters of Lake Como.
To enhance the Lake Como destination wedding experience and pay homage to the bride’s career as a food blogger, the couple opted for a more unconventional reception menu. They served a menu of authentic Italian cuisine to show their guests an exceptional time. From a starting course of burrata to delectable pasta, it was a taste of la bella vita!
There is so much heartfelt joy in the weddings that are created with the bride and groom at the center. I love seeing couples use their unique styles and personalities while embracing the epic location of their destination wedding. And this one in Villa Pizzo, Lake Como did just that!
