How I Helped Create This Spectacular Lake Como Engagement
When a couple reaches out to me for photography, I always go above and beyond just arriving on the date and taking their photos.
That’s especially true when the couple plans to come to Italy. Because I am local to Lake Como, I’ll always help my couples plan their special occasion. With such a long journey here, I want to make sure they receive the best, most unforgettable experience possible! And one of the greatest ways to do that is to live like a local.
So come with me as I show how I helped create this spectacular Lake Como engagement!
Going Above and Beyond Well Before the Lake Como Engagement Photos
For this sweet couple, she reached out about a couple’s session in Lake Como in the months leading up to their trip to Italy.
As the days ticked by, I guided them through all of their decisions. I helped them choose the best dates to find the best weather. We worked together to create an itinerary and schedule for them. I helped them coordinate a classic Riva boat for a trip around Lake Como.
And, of course, I gave them plenty of fashion advice for their upcoming photo session with me!
But the best part of guiding them through their destination planning was when her partner reached out about a surprise for her – a proposal!
I helped him choose the most pristine location out of their selections – Villa Monastero. And we quickly changed their couple’s session into Lake Como engagement photos!
Guiding the Couple Through Lake Como, Italy
Is there anything better than a private tour guide when you’re in a brand new destination? I always assume that role, along with being a photographer, whenever I work with my couples.
I love Lake Como so tremendously that I want to make sure my couples love it just as much when they visit. So, while making sure to snap plenty of artfully captured photos, I also impart my local’s wisdom.
And that’s exactly what I did for this incredible couple, too!
The Villa Monastero, Lake Como Engagement
Villa Monastero in Varenna, Lake Como is one of the quintessential villas built on the lakeshore. It’s known for its massive columns which frame the lake in the background, and a grand staircase that leads right onto the water.
From pathways surrounded by foliage and lovely botanical gardens, it’s a picturesque fairytale venue. And that made it one of the best Lake Como engagement spots for this couple.
While she wore a whimsical gown with a tulle-layered skirt, he bent to one knee with the lake’s crystal waters creating a gorgeous backdrop.
With the new sparkling ring on her finger, the three of us explored the grounds of the villa, while I captured their very first engagement photos.
Touring Varenna Like a Local
I couldn’t let this couple visit Lake Como without taking them to explore at least one of the great cities surrounding it.
After our stop at Villa Monastero, the three of us made our way to Varenna to traipse through the charming Italian stone side streets.
Getting a Taste of La Bella Vita
After so much walking around the city of Varenna, I knew I had to introduce this couple to a little bit more of la bella vita.
She slipped into her third and final outfit, a captivating red gown with a dramatic train, to truly embrace the beautiful, Italian life. The two of them enjoyed an aperitivo spritz at an outdoor dining table with the view of Varenna and Lake Como in the background.
Guiding my couples through the planning process, even before they arrive for their photos, is so important to me. I want to make sure that everyone has a fabulous experience and leaves counting down the days until they return!
